243 growing-area codes granted for lychee export in Bac Ninh
BAC NINH – Bac Ninh province has been granted 243 growing-area codes for lychee exports, covering more than 17,450 hectares as Vietnam seeks to expand shipments to international markets.
Of the total, 126 growing-area codes covering more than 16,190 hectares and producing around 110,000 tonnes are approved for exports to China, the province’s largest market. The United States has approved 22 growing areas spanning more than 250 hectares with output estimated at 2,500 tonnes.

Australia has granted 30 growing-area codes covering more than 386 hectares with expected production of about 3,000 tonnes, while Thailand has approved 25 growing areas totaling over 290 hectares and output of around 2,000 tonnes.
Japan has recognized 39 growing areas covering nearly 327 hectares with projected production of 3,500 tonnes, while the European Union has approved one growing-area code.
The provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment said it is coordinating with relevant agencies and local authorities to strengthen management of growing-area codes through training, supervision and awareness campaigns for organizations and farmers involved in lychee production and exports.
Local authorities are also guiding farmers to adopt safe cultivation practices and improve quality control throughout the production and distribution chain. At the same time, they are updating growers on technical standards and import requirements in overseas markets to maintain the reputation and competitiveness of lychee exports.
