Pineapple output estimated at 15,000 tonnes

Updated: 15:52, 16/04/2026

BAC NINH - This year, total pineapple output in Bac Ninh province is estimated at around 15,000 tonnes, mainly concentrated in growing areas in Dong Cong, Ho Son 1, Quat Son and Hue Van 2 hamlets (Bao Dai commune), and Kep 11 hamlet (Huong Son commune).

So far, farmers have harvested about 145 tonnes, with prices ranging from 12,000 to 14,000 VND per kg, up 2,000–4,000 VND per kg compared with the same period last year.

Farmers in Kep commune enjoy a bumper pineapple harvest.

The province currently has 755 hectares of pineapple cultivation. Leveraging advantages in garden and hill land, localities are promoting concentrated production and applying technical advances to enable year-round fruiting.

The use of organic fertilisers and safe farming practices has helped improve productivity, quality and product value.

Bao Dai pineapple and Kep commune pineapple have both been certified as three-star OCOP products. In addition to fresh consumption, pineapples are processed into products such as pineapple tea and dried pineapple, helping extend shelf life, expand markets and increase product value, generating economic returns of 350–400 million VND (13,200 – 15,100 USD) per hectare.

The main harvest season typically falls in April, May and June each year. Localities are currently expanding the cultivation of the Queen pineapple variety, which can flower off-season and be harvested year-round.
