The Standing Vice Chairman of Bac Ninh People’s Committee (PPC) Mai Son on July 16 welcomed Farit Alakbarov Deputy Mayor of Sumgayit city as part of the third session of the Vietnam-Azerbaijan Intergovernmental Committee on economic, trade, scientific and technical cooperation.

Bac Ninh authorities recently hosted the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Vietnam to discuss cooperation between the northern province and Azerbaijan. During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on potential collaboration areas.

Earlier, Bac Ninh sent a delegation to Azerbaijan to promote investment, enhance cooperation, and exchange experiences in socio-economic management, local governance, investment attraction, and tourism development.

During talks, the PPC Vice Chairman Mai Son outlined Bac Ninh’s development achievements and proposed future cooperation in industry, education, cultural exchange and tourism.

Bac Ninh is also rapidly developing its industrial sector. Both sides agreed they could exchange expert delegations and connect businesses in chemicals, clean industries and renewable energy.

So the provincial leader proposed that the Deputy Mayor introduce companies from Sumgayit city and other parts of Azerbaijan to explore investment opportunities in Bac Ninh.

The provincial leader proposed that both sides continue exchanges and connections towards signing a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a friendship relationship between Bac Ninh province and Sumgayit city. This would serve as a basis for implementing concrete, practical, and sustainable cooperation in the future.

Deputy Mayor Alakbarov thanked the province for its warm welcome and introduced key aspects of Sumgayit city.

Since its establishment in 1949, Sumgayit has experienced strong industrial development, particularly with large factories and production complexes. The growth of the chemical industry has also turned the city into a strategic industrial centre.
