Bac Ninh expects citrus harvest of 76,000 tonnes

Updated: 10:11, 23/09/2025

BAC NINH – Bac Ninh province is forecast to harvest around 76,000 tonnes of citrus fruit, including oranges and pomelos, during the 2025–2026 season, the provincial Plant Production and Protection Division (Department of Agriculture and Environment) said.

The province has about 2,714 hectares of orange trees with an estimated output of 28,000 tonnes, of which 1,700 hectares are grown under VietGAP standards.

Leo Thi Thai in Bac Hai residential group of Phong Son ward cares foor the pomelo garden.

Pomelo cultivation covers about 5,400 hectares, yielding some 48,000 tonnes, including 3,600 hectares under VietGAP and 10 hectares under organic farming standards. The main harvest will run from October 2025 through February 2026.

To boost exports, Bac Ninh has established 26 planting area codes covering nearly 300 hectares for markets such as Russia, New Zealand, the United States and South Korea. Key growing areas include Chu, Luc Ngan, Phuong Son, Nam Duong and Tan Son communes.

Local cooperatives, including Thanh Hai Agricultural Cooperative and Hong Xuan Agricultural Services Cooperative, are encouraging members to adopt organic and food safety-oriented production practices to meet market demand.

Authorities have also facilitated linkages between farmers, cooperatives and enterprises to promote products, organise agro-tourism experiences and set up services for visitors to citrus orchards.

The province is working with the Department of Industry and Trade to promote sales of oranges and pomelos via e-commerce platforms, fairs and exhibitions both inside and outside Bac Ninh.
