Bringing farm produce on digital platforms: AI application to enhance sales capacity
BAC NINH- In recent years, agricultural consumption in northern province of Bac Ninh province has gradually shifted from traditional methods to digital environment. In line with market expansion and improving product quality, bringing agricultural products on “e-commerce platforms” helps to change farmers’ production mindset and lay a foundation for modern and sustainable agricultural development.
Expanding consumption market
Bac Ninh province currently has over 54,000 hectares of fruit growing area with lychee, longgan, pomelo, orage, custard apple, jujube and guava as main plants yielding an annual production value of 7.4 trillion VND (281.4 million USD).

It is among important sectors making positive contributions to agricultural economic growth, creating jobs and enhancing income for people in rural areas.
Previously, products much depended on traditional market but now application of e-commerce opens up new ways for product consumption.
Many cooperatives, businesses and production households have brought their agricultural products to sell on e-commerce platforms like Shopee, Lazada, Tiki, Voso.vn, Postmart.vn and Tiktokshop.
To date, the province’s agricultural products have been consumed in 16 countries and territories including major markets of China, Japan, US and some European countries.
Apart from lychee, several farm products such as longan, orange, pomelo, tomato, radish, pepper, ginger, turmeric, cinnamon, star anise and lemongrass have been also exported.
The provincial Post Office is one of the key units supporting farmers in bringing agricultural products to market.

To date, 7,395 seller accounts have been created and are actively operating on the e-commerce platforms buudien.vn and nongsan.buudien.vn.
Nearly 1,700 local agricultural and specialty products have been listed online, generating a vibrant flow of trade with approx. 90,000 orders processed.
The initiativetive helps to promote the province’s agricultural brands and connect local products with consumers.
Equipped with sales skills on digital platforms
The lychee crop 2026 is entering harvest season. The lychee output this year is forecast at about 95,000 tonnes in total.
For a favourable lychee season, the provincial People’s Committee has directed related departments, agencies and localities to take synchronous measures to support production and consumption, in which promotional activities on e-commerce platforms have been paid special attention.
Phuc Hoa commune, the major orchard of early ripening lychee, has 845 hectares of lychee with an expected output of about 7,500 tonnes including 7,400 tonnes of early ripening lychee. The commune has organised a tranining sesson for farmers on livestreaming skills and AI applications to sell products on social networks.
The family of Vi Thi Hien in Phuc Le village owns 1 hectare of lychee cultivation area. Although productivity is forcast lower this year, she has proactively applied organic caring techniques and learned to sell products through digital platforms.
As lychees start ripening this time, Hien livestreams to promote her lychee gardens and allow traders from afar to follow and place orders.
According to Nguyen Van Tuan, Vice Director of the Science, Technology and Digital Transformation Center (under the provincial Department of Science and Technology), e-commerce has become an important channel for consumption of agricultural products.
“The most important thing is that farmers need to change their mindset from production to digital trading. They should know how to tell stories about their products and the farming areas to creat stronger customer appeal”, stressed Tuan.

To foster long-term and sustainable growth in the digital economy, the provincial People’s Committee and Vietnam Post signed a cooperation agreement for the 2026–2030 period in April.
In which, promoting consumption of agricultural products through e-commerce platforms has been identified as a key pillar, aligned with the province’s broader goals of advancing the digital economy and building smart rural communities.
The province recently announced the establishment of KOL and KOC club in Bac Ninh province.
Adhering to the province’s direction, local authorities and relevant agencies have stepped up efforts to equip farmers with digital selling skills, while placing strong emphasis on packaging, preservation and transportation techniques to ensure products remain fresh and of high quality upon reaching consumers.
