Two Bac Ninh athletes receive Prime Minister’s commendations for SEA Games success

BAC NINH - Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on December 27 announced decisions and presented commendations from the Prime Minister to individuals who delivered outstanding performances at the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, including two athletes from Bac Ninh province.

Fifteen athletes representing exceptional achievements at the SEA Games were awarded the Prime Minister’s Certificate of Merit. Among them were Nguyen Thi Oanh of the national athletics team, who won three gold medals and Do Ngoc Linh of the national wrestling team, who secured one gold medal at the Games.

Nguyen Thi Oanh delivers a standout performance at the 33rd SEA Games, completing a hat-trick of gold medals.

Earlier, on December 26, 2025, the Prime Minister signed a decision to confer certificates of merit on 300 athletes and coaches for particularly outstanding achievements by teams and individuals at the 33rd SEA Games.

The awards recognise the effort, determination and notable results of each recipient, while encouraging training and competitive spirit across the national delegation.

They are also intended to motivate athletes to continue striving and contributing to Vietnamese sport, enhancing the country’s reputation and standing on the international stage.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the 33rd SEA Games were held in Thailand from December 9 to Dec 20, 2025.

Vietnam sent a delegation of 1,100 members, including 841 athletes competing across 47 sports and disciplines. Vietnamese athletes finished third overall in the medal standings, behind host nation Thailand and Indonesia.
