Bac Ninh sport cements its position
BAC NINH- Bac Ninh sport has seen dramatic and comprehensive development in 2025. The number of medals at national and international sport events sharply increased when many of the province’s athletes had standout performances and gained outstanding achievements at regional, continental and international arenas, leaving remarkable spotlights on Vietnam’s sport map.
With their courage, resilience and sportsmanship, Bac Ninh’s athletes bagged 1,506 medals of different types in domestic arenas (including 403 gold, 417 silver and 686 bronze medals).

In international arenas, Bac Ninh sports reaped totally 93 medals at international, Asian and Southeast Asian sports festivals and championships (35 gold, 30 silver and 28 bronze medals).
Of which, flagship athletes have continuously shone in competitions, making remarkable contributions to the fruitful picture of Bac Ninh sports.
Particularly, Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy was crowned champion at the International Wushu Championships and won gold medal at 33rd SEA Games. Nguyen Duy Tuyen bagged gold medals at the Asian Pencak Silat Championships and 33rd SEA Games.
Phung Manh Tu secured gold medal at the Asian Shuttlecock Kicking Championships. Pham Tien San won gold medal at men’s team dualthlon event and Do Ngoc Linh shined with gold medal at women’s freestyle 50kg wrestling at the 33rd SEA Games.
Luong Nhu Quynh won gold medal in women’s 78kg event at the 2025 South East Asian Youth Judo Championships. Nguyen Thi Oanh bagged a full collection of gold medals in 5,000m, 10,000m and 3,000m steeplechase events at the 33rd SEA Games.
Other sports also left remarks. Bac Ninh Football Club (Bac Ninh FC) won promotion to compete at V-League and entered the quarterfinals of the 2025–2026 National Cup.
Bac Ninh women’s volleyball team (IMP) has more grown up to secure its leading positions at the national A-class volleyball tournaments.
These results clearly demonstrated the province’s attention and focused investment to team sports, strong push for mobilizing resources from society and aspiration for making breakthroughs as well as establishing brand of Bac Ninh sports.
According to Bui Ngoc Anh, Director of Bac Ninh Sports Training and Competition Center No 1, both former Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces had their own policies for carefully selecting and building up focused resources in line with completing modern facilities for training and competition while providing tailored, generous benefits for coaches and athletes before the merger.
Such strategies paved the way for strong breakthroughs of Bac Ninh sports after the merger.

Physical training and sport activities at all levels have been paid regular attention while facilities have been strengthened, creating a strong foundation for sports movements.
By the end of 2025, the rate of people regularly practicing sports reached 41.6 percent when the number of households practicing sports was 27.9 percent. There are approximately 4,800 sport clubs and associations in the entire province.
In the context of globalization, sport is not just to improve health values or achievements, but it is also a symbol of national strength.
Victories gained at sports events have helped to improve Bac Ninh’s image to domestic and international friends, spread pride of the homeland and reinforce the people’s great solidarity.
